The About Game - An Interactive About Page That Rewards Curiosity

About pages are usually where a portfolio dies. Even well-written ones get skimmed. I wanted a page that rewarded the small percentage of visitors who actually cared - recruiters, collaborators, curious peers - with something more than a wall of paragraphs, without punishing everyone else who just wanted the short version.

1. 01Framed the whole page as a small suite of games instead of a single scrolling essay - decoder cards, a fortune wheel, a recipe box, a trading-card set, a career-milestone vault
2. 02Designed a Curiosity Ledger that tracks which cards, wheels, recipes and milestones the visitor has actually explored, and unlocks a custom AI-generated bio once enough signals are collected
3. 03Built each game as a real, playable interaction rather than decorative animation - complete rules, real state, real reset behaviour, real reward loops
4. 04Wired the game outputs into the same personalization system that tailors the rest of the site by focus, so the About page is also feeding the AI-generated bio elsewhere
5. 05Kept the underlying content grounded - real facts, real achievements, real personality - so the game layer added play without inventing anything
6. 06Prototyped, tested, tore up and rebuilt individual games until the interaction actually held attention past the first click
